This site features information on Refurbished Laptop computers and tips for operating both new and refurbished laptops. One factor that is common to both refurbished, and new laptops or notebooks is how much memory is enough. A good rule of thumb for both desktop and portable computers is that more memory is always better. Most new laptops are advertised at a starting price that includes from 512K to 1 GB of memory. Most computer sales people will try and sell you more memory. Experience with my own laptops and others that I have supported is that for Windows XP and Windows Vista a minimum of 1GB is desirable and 2GB will make both operating systems perform far better than with less than 1GB of memory. Add-in memory is a good buy these days so don't short change your laptop performance with too little memory.
